"Watching the sunset from your exquistely designed, thatch roofed octagonal rock villa on the edge
of Jamaica is amazing. Chic but simple, with four-poster beds, a shower open to the skies, and your
own private sun deck."
ROOMS AT ROCKHOUSE
Rockhouse has thirty-four air-conditioned rooms providing all the comforts of a boutique hotel in a natural Jamaican environment. Eight Premium Villas, twelve Villas, five Studios and nine Standard rooms are built from timber, stone and thatch and designed to exist in harmony with the jungle-like garden and volcanic rock of the Hotel's eight acres. All rooms have a private furnished balcony or terrace area.
Room furniture includes a four post queen size bed with mosquito netting, bed side tables, desk/dresser with mirror and stool, and a two-seated table with chairs for in-room dining. This is a new furniture line specifically designed for Rockhouse and built from dressed and polished local timbers. Amenities include a room safe, a fully stocked mini bar, telephones with overseas direct dialing, luggage rack, hanging space with wood hangers, overhead or oscillating stand fan, and air conditioning. The pressurized water system with master tank storage, and power provision from the back-up generators ensure continuous service. Environmentally conscious, solar hot water is heated throughout the property, with local hot water tank backup for those very rare cloudy days, or unusually high consumption.
"Nestled within stands of almond trees and palms of every hue and texture rests a collection of mega shacks: thatched, colorful and containing all the luxury prerequisites."
"More than its name implies the Rockhouse is actually a collection of individual villas made of rough-hewn stone, with sliding glass doors, wraparound terraces and thatch roofs, an interesting blend of modern and tropical traditional. The shower enclosures are outside which fits perfectly with Negril's hedonistic atmosphere."
"The best thing about arriving in the dark is the excitement, plus the fact you get to wake up in the morning somewhere you're totally unfamiliar with. I couldn't wait to check out the hotel and wander outside in the blazing sunshine. And the reality was better than the anticipation: stunning thatched cabanas perched on coral cliffs, each with a breathtaking view of the ocean."
"Each villa is a study in understated chic. A four-poster bed draped with mosquito netting beneath a lazy ceiling fan, the Caribbean Sea glimmering just beyond, cool sandstone walls and a private open-air rock-walled shower are all the accoutrements you'll need. It's the complete Caribbean dream, and at very down to earth prices."
"Digs are in octagonal, thatched-roof cottages of wood and stone with wraparound terraces and enclosed outdoor showers. Pencil post beds are draped with mosquito netting. Think of Polynesian meets Caribbean."
